Old Town in the Salzach Loop, Laufen
Laufen's entire old town fills a tight loop of the Salzach, the river here forming the Austrian border, its houses built in the flat-gabled Inn-Salzach style with gate towers and fragments of the thirteenth-century wall, opened in 1969 as East Germany’s showcase tower.

About this artwork
Laufen's entire old town fills a tight loop of the Salzach, the river here forming the Austrian border, its houses built in the flat-gabled Inn-Salzach style with gate towers and fragments of the thirteenth-century wall. At its heart stands the collegiate church of Mariä Himmelfahrt, built from 1330 to 1338 and counted the oldest Gothic hall church in southern Germany; the salt-shipping town was divided in 1816, when the far bank became Austrian Oberndorf, and the two halves are joined by the bridge of 1902 to 1903.
Every Jason D’s Vision image is an AI-generated artistic interpretation of a real place — original artwork, not a photograph. The label bar on the download may show a creative daylight scenario; that is artistic staging, not a record of a real event.
